A Cup of Blessings Please

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:3(NIV)

I have often wondered about blessings from God.

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:27-28  (NKJV)

God blessed Adam and Eve I wonder if that meant everyone is blessed?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV)

Here Paul has written a letter to the Christians in Ephesus and acknowledges that we are already blessed by God.

In my life some blessings come from the tribulations that I have had to overcome. I did pray for God to help me but later I prayed that God would just give me the strength and wisdom to endure such difficult times in my life. It wasn’t until later that I realized that praying for strength and wisdom help strengthen my faith and my relationship with Christ Jesus. I think that when we face hardships that we need to go to God and pray. In this manner we build our faith and our relationship with God which results in great confidence and comfort in our relationship as Christians with our Heavenly Father God Almighty. Then I read this…

Matthew 5:3-12 (NIV)

He said:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

So everyone is already blessed or so the bible tells me so. I wonder is it okay to pray for that extra cup of blessings anyway? It does bring me so much comfort when I do.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
