The Christian Gaming Community would like to extend our deepest heartfelt condolences and prayers to all the families and friends of the victims of the Synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and all the other families and friends that have lost family members to senseless acts of killing because of hate and prejudice.

Eleven people were killed Saturday during worship service by a gunman. This is not the first time a gunman has walked into a church or a school and started shooting people. For some odd reason the family of man insists on killing each other. Hate crimes are on the rise in the United States sometimes against people of color and sometimes the people of faith. Sometimes it’s our children in schools or families in a church or maybe groups of people in a rally killed by a charging car.

Here in the United States we have a document called the Declaration of Independence and it contains this statement.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

And then I remembered this scripture…

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

So then it was obvious to our forefathers that the humankind is the same the world over except for the few deviations in facial appearances and skin pigmentation we are all the same. We all have a brain and a heart although there are times that I think the latter does not exist in some people. So if we are all part of the human race why do people have such great prejudice and hate for other people? Why go out and kill these people? And then why do you say “Not guilty” after tens of people say “Yes officer that’s the man that shot and killed so many people.” Why hate?

20 Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 1 John 4:20 (NRSV)

Now the task lies before the Christian body and that is to turn people away from hate and prejudice so they would see the love and joy that one finds in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. When I thought about ways to turn people to God I felt a little overwhelmed because…I want everyone to be saved by Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and that’s a lot of people. As I pondered I remembered something I heard as a child.

The most recognized excerpt of Kennedy’s speech is, “We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.”

We should do things that God wants us to donot because they are easy, but because they are hard,”
