2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)
One day my girlfriend asked me “Other than the bible do you read any books?” I do on occasions and I enjoy reading other books but the bible offers so much encouragement and comfort. Admittedly reading other books is enjoyable but to write these blogs I have to read the bible and to grow in the Christian faith I have to read the bible and to gain wisdom I have to read the bible. I have often heard the bible referred to as the “good book” and it is a good book and it’s a good read and the most amazing part is that I enjoy reading the bible.
I looked up the definition of Psalm in the Merriam-Webster dictionary and this is what I found: a sacred song or poem used in worship especially : one of the biblical hymns collected in the Book of Psalms.
The book of Psalms is 150 chapters long and as much as they are hymns they lift up praise and glory to our Heavenly Father God Almighty they are words of encouragement, wisdom, and comfort as well.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4
Or my dad’s favorite
A Psalm of David.
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters,
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
If you have some time sit down and read the Book of Psalms it is 150 chapters long but you can read it like I do 2 or 3 chapters a day because it is encouraging as it is comforting. Who knows you might find another favorite scripture.
God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
