2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)
One of my favorite Christmas specials is “A Charlie Brown Christmas” which has become a tradition for me to watch ever since I saw it aired for the first time on the television in 1965. In this special Charlie Brown in a moment of frustration exclaims, “Can anybody tell me what Christmas is about?!”
Linus calmly replies “Sure Charlie Brown” and recites the scripture below.
Luke 2:8-14 (KJV)
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
It amazes me that a children’s Christmas special contains such a valuable point in a tumultuous 1960’s era. When this aired I was surrounded by people of the Christian faith that did the things we Christians are suppose to do like reaching out with love and compassion for others whether it would be with giving food or providing shelter and praying for each other just to name a few things. Now in this era of the “offends me” we see people that know right from wrong, or at least that’s what they say, but do not know Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. To all the “offends me” and the Agnostics and Atheists just remember this:
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)
God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
