The Lenten Season

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

In our gaming community there are many people from many aspects of the Christian faith there Catholics, Methodists, Baptists even one of the Eastern Orthodox. Most follow the season of lent. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday the first day of Lent. Below is probably the most well known scripture of the season of Lent which is to be repenting of our sins, fasting, moderation, spiritual reflection and discipline and praying and then praying some more. Some feel the need to make sacrifices and give things up like smoking or drinking alcohol and exercising moderation.  It all pertains to what Christ Jesus did in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights fasting without food and praying unceasingly to our Heavenly Father God Almighty. In short it Lent is the Christian season of spiritual preparation before Easter. The purpose of the Lenten season is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ to consider his suffering, his sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection.

12 Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God? Joel2:12-14 KJV

12 “Yet even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
13     and rend your hearts and not your garments.”
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
and he relents over disaster.
14 Who knows whether he will not turn and relent,
and leave a blessing behind him,
a grain offering and a drink offering
for the Lord your God?
Joel2:12-14 ESV

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
