Happy Easter

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.   1 Corinthians 15:3-8 (NIV)

In the above scripture Paul writes about the “Good News” that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior died for our sins and He was dead and buried that on the third day Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior rose from the grave and was given everlasting life. I like this scripture as opposed to Matthew 28 or Luke or of John’s version of the resurrection. Interestingly enough the ending segments tell different versions. In Mark 16 Jesus tells the eleven to go out into the world and preach the gospel to all creation. In Luke 24 Jesus appeared with two disciples walking to Emmaus and the disciples talked to Christ Jesus about the events at the tomb. In the above scripture Paul tells the reader that Christ Jesus appeared to many people on the third day…at the same time!

I know many people and pastors and priests that would recite the events at the tomb when Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome went to the tomb and that’s great but I would not tell a non believer that. I know that sounds horrible but in the above scripture Paul actually says “Christ died for our sins” for me telling a non believer that is far more important. Then just blow their minds when you tell them that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior rose from the grave.

Mark 16:6 (NIV)

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

He is risen

He is risen indeed
