Consider This…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

I had finished reading the book of Jeremiah several weeks ago but when it came time to blog about my journey through the bible I had blogged about another topic that spanned over the last three weeks.

Our Heavenly Father God Almighty gave Jeremiah the Prophet numerous messages to tell the people of Jerusalem and Judah to turn away from their sinful natures and their false gods. If they did turn back to our heavenly Father God Almighty then they would spared. If they did not God would send the Babylonians to seize their cities and take the people back to Babylon as captives.

13 The Lord said, “It is because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them; they have not obeyed me or followed my law. 14 Instead, they have followed the stubbornness of their hearts; they have followed the Baals, as their ancestors taught them.” 15 Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “See, I will make this people eat bitter food and drink poisoned water. 16 I will scatter them among nations that neither they nor their ancestors have known, and I will pursue them with the sword until I have made an end of them.” Jeremiah 9:13-16

and

For thus says the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah:

“‘You are like Gilead to me,
like the summit of Lebanon,
yet surely I will make you a desert,
an uninhabited city.[
a]
I will prepare destroyers against you,
each with his weapons,
and they shall cut down your choicest cedars
and cast them into the fire.

“‘And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, “Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?”

30 “The people of Israel and Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; indeed, the people of Israel have done nothing but arouse my anger with what their hands have made, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 32:30

In the end the people of Jerusalem and Judah did not turn back to God thus the Babylonians seized Jerusalem and captured the people of as well as Judah just as Jeremiah had said in his message from God.

Consider this: if the people of the United States stopped their hatred and their violence, turned back to God, and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior then would God spare the people from the evil that has engulfed our world?

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
