Those Were the Days my Friends…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

I am still reading the book of Ezekiel so I decided to blog about something else until I have finished reading that book.

In my childhood, we did many things that children do not do now. Many of those activities were outside activities.

Playing with other children…race was not an issue when playing with other kids.

Bicycle riding, all over town, people drove their cars carefully always watching out for children riding their bicycle or running about. Road rage, reckless driving and wrong way driving were not a thing back then.

Playing street football people drove their cars carefully always watching out for children riding their bicycle or running about. Road rage, reckless driving and wrong way driving were not a thing back then.

Drank water from the garden water hose because nobody wanted to go inside the house when there was three more hours to go in the first quarter of street football drinking water from the garden hose was safe and we all lived to tell about it in our geriatric age.

Cooled ourselves off with the garden water hose because it was safe the water was safe and we all lived to tell about it in our geriatric age.

Playing softball all-day until bedtime because playing sports in the backyard was fun…again race was not an issue when playing with other kids especially all day and until 9 pm.

We played on the public school playground even during the summer because no one thought of shooting teenagers and kids while they were playing.

Building models…this is what I did because my asthma was bad that day which is way better than playing video games.

Building and launching model rockets, on public school playground, this is better than making bombs to hurt others because some people…I just do not understand.

We would sit on the corner curb of the sidewalk or in someone’s yard and planned our activities for the rest of the day and possibly the next day. We were great at planning things but we had to be cautious because someone was always trying to spray water from the garden hose on us.

Snowball fights…after spending two hours on making a snow fort then using part of the fort for the supply of snowballs.

Snow Tubing down a hillside or along the banks of a small creek just fun

Riding your bicycle as fast as you can down a short hill onto a wooden plank sitting on a rock that would launch you into the air, Evil Knievel was popular back then, and see how far you could go before landing. Later we dubbed this bicycle run as “Nutcracker Hill” for obvious reasons.

Those were the days my friends
