Consider This…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

I have seen so many books and articles pertaining to “how to read the Bible” or “interpretations of the Bible” and the likes. I myself have a technique to reading the bible and that is to read it as it was delivered…simple. I am sure our Heavenly Father God Almighty did not intend to have the bible written in such a way that there would be no hidden meaning of philosophical depth or some such thing but rather “do this but do not do that”. Then I read the book of Hosea and I quietly rolled down the passenger side window of the car traveling 65 miles per hour down the freeway and chucked that thought out the window.

In Hosea chapters, 1-3 it is these chapters that describe a small segment of the prophet’s life focusing on an unhappy marriage to an unfaithful wife. The purpose of this section is not to present a biography but rather to illustrate God’s painful relationship with Israel. Just as Hosea wife, Gomer, was unfaithful so is Israel that also acted like a prostitute by worshiping Canaanite gods.

Hosea chapters 4-14 contain a diverse collection of Hosea prophecies from his early ministry just until the destruction of Israel in 722 BC.

Again, I found this reoccurring theme in that the consequences for their sin will be severe and the nation will be destroyed God would not give up on His chosen people, and gives His divine promise of future restoration.

Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity. Hosea 14:1

“Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us. Hosea 6:1

Nobody said being a Christian is easy but following our Heavenly Father God Almighty commandments is truly goodness. We are asked to be compassionate and to love one another not excluding helping our fellow people in times of need and forgiveness, which is also a big part of the Christian lifestyle, which is good.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
