Consider This…

Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2 (NIV)

It has become difficult to pick scriptures to write about short of copy and pasting the entire bible.

10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” Matthew 15:10-11

I like the above scripture because it tells us that we should be careful of what we say to people we should speak of the Good News that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior died for all our sins and saves us all and to speak well of the commandments of our Heavenly Father God Almighty. No swearing, cursing, or use of foul language should be spoken from the Christian mouth.

29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29

If Matthew 15:10-11 did not make it clear Ephesians 4:29 made it simple and clear. I realize in today’s society it is an acceptable practice to curse and swear but I truly believe it is a choice. We can choose to curse and swear or not…society is not wise God is.

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.  Matthew 16:24-27

In the above scripture, Christ Jesus is simply saying give up the things of the world and follow His teachings and wisdom and our Heavenly Father God Almighty’s commandments and will.  We should not follow the ways of the world such as greed, self-love, and the many materialistic ideas. There are other religious scholars that have a deeper insight into this scripture but I think we humans have a tendency to over think the simple things in life.

22 When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. 23 They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.” And the disciples were filled with grief. Matthew 17:22-23

In the scripture above Christ Jesus tells the disciples, for the second time in the book of Matthew, that he will die and on the third day he will be raised to life.

Remember:

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV

God bless all that read this with His love, light, grace, mercy, and wisdom. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Revelation 22:21 (KJV)
